Langford Lake is a great lake for both rainbow trout to 8 lbs and Smallmouth Bass to 5-6lbs. I have indicated some of the hottest spots to try for both Rainbow trout and Bass. For Rainbow Trout, try Ruby eyed Leeches or Chironomids. Of course do not forget your favorite wooly buggers and leech patterns. For Bass hit the far end of the lake and cast between the docks with pretty much any wet fly and you are sure to get into some great bass fishing. I am going to try some dry flies as well to see if I can entice some of either species to smash a top water fly.
The yellow ‘X’ on the map indiactes a very shallow shoal that has great drop offs on both sides. It is not indicated in this depth chart. The water comes up to about 3-4 feet but drops off significantly on both sides. Anchor up and cast into the deep from either side for some great fishing.
Fishing on the Cowichan River is great right now for big resident rainbow and brown trout. top water flies in the early evening will produce big hungry Cowichan River Brown Trout. Swinging bug imitations along bottom of the water column will give you some great rainbow and brown trout strikes.
